President Donald Trump said Wednesday that Coca-Cola agreed to use real cane sugar in its US sodas at his suggestion, though the company did not confirm the change. A shift from high-fructose corn syrup would align US Coke with versions sold in Mexico and Australia. Diet Coke, sweetened with aspartame, would be unaffected.

It’s the ratio of glucose to fructose. In cane sugar it’s 50/50, but in hfcs it’s 45/55. Op is confused.

The cane sugar breaks down into that 50/50 ratio in the acidic soda. So it’s fairly close, but not exactly the same.
