With its tentacles, octopus is a prized ingredient in European cuisine. But growing demand, overfishing and rising ocean temperatures are pushing the species towards the brink. From Asturias to the Yucatán, small-scale fishers on both sides of the Atlantic are attempting to become more sustainable.

    As long as a handful of fishermen a.d their families are the only consumers, yes. As soon as they feed international markets, no longer.
