The article begins stating the adult child has Downs syndrome, and I thought that was odd that she died of hunger because most people with Downs can call first responders or go to a neighbor’s house and communicate they need help.

But further down in the article it explains the young woman was non verbal, and probably couldn’t unlock the door even if she tried.

Very tragic story. It doesn’t feel right placing blame on any one individual, but it does raise the question what could have been done to prevent the death of the disabled young woman.
