I want to switch from those American for profit news outlets to Euro or non-profit news outlets, what are my options?
I will list the ones I know and I find here:
- Bloomberg: TBA.
- Reuters : Associated Press.
- New York Times: Follow The Money, Mediapart.
- Politico: The Guardian.
- The Verge: The Register, Techzine, Heise.
DW (Deutsche Welle) is pretty good and it’s available in a bunch of different languages. It’s a German public broadcaster which comes with it’s own issues, but it’s generally not as turbo-capitalist in its opinions as most privately owned news outlets.
I started to really not trust them anymore.

Yeah, if there’s one topic you shouldn’t trust German public broadcasters on, it’s definitely that one. Germany has serious issues when it comes to Israel.
I like the CBC for the same not-turbo capitalist reason. Just swap Germany for Canada.
Reuters isn’t a US based organization. Headquartered in Canada, and is a British organization.

Matter of fact, they got sued for their privacy.
On Oct. 11, a San Francisco judge gave preliminary approval to a settlement that would see Thomson Reuters cough up $27.5 million, mostly to state residents. The deal caps off a legal battle that began in 2020: Two Alameda County activists sued the media giant over its Clear product, accusing the company of compiling millions of people’s personal data and putting it up for sale on the searchable database.

The best one in Ireland (IMO) is https://thejournal.ie/. They have fairly well balanced articles, “explainers” and fact check articles. They have a podcasts too. They cover international stuff too but too much USA-related news for my taste. I have a browser plugin that takes care of that, though.
Al-Jazeera is another option.
Al-jazeera is a private news outlet so be cautious. Private outlets are often sensational, without much transparency and value.
Oh absolutely, but it’s not murican.
Run their articles through archive.is so they don’t get any advertising revenue.
That way you are still being dependent on them.
