More than three years after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, hundreds of Ukrainian citizens, both civilians and military personnel, remain detained in Russian prisons or occupied territories, in conditions that violate international law. Their fate is one of the deepest but most neglected wounds of this conflict. The issue of their release and – above all – their reintegration once they return home, is still largely unaddressed.
