Financial markets in the Asia Pacific have jumped this Thursday following Donald Trump’s abrupt decision to pause most of his so called reciprocal tariffs. After announcing the measures on April 2nd, the US president urged people to remain calm, all while major stocks plummeted. On Wednesday though, it was ultimately Trump who reversed course – putting off imposing the levies for 90 days to give markets breathing room and allow for negotiations.
It was the end point of the scheme. It was market manipulation. Tank the market so big investors can short, then use the short gains to buy low before rescinding the tariffs
